How to Join: You may join the club by sending a check for $7 PER HOUSEHOLD made out to “Chargers & Rechargers Hiking Club” to the Club Treasurer. Include the address at which you want to receive the quarterly club newsletter, your preferred telephone number and your email address. The Club Treasurer will send your contact information to the Records Manager, who will add it to the mailing list and to the email list.
In addition to receiving the newsletter with club news and the upcoming hiking schedule, your name will be listed in the club membership roster. Members are also entitled to a 10% discount on some items at the Boone Mast General Store and the Boone Footsloggers.
Annual Dues: Annual dues are $7.00 per year, PER HOUSEHOLD and are payable by January 1st to the Club Treasurer. Dues are primarily used to cover the expense of printing and mailing the quarterly newsletter. Only one newsletter is sent to each household.
Hike Schedules: The quarterly club newsletter has a complete hike schedule in addition to other important club information. To receive the newsletter you must be a club member and your mailing address must be correct in the club database.
To Change Your Contact Information After You’ve Joined the Club: Any and all changes to your contact information should be sent to the Records Manager who will update the mailing list and the email list. The information in the database is used to create the mailing list – if your contact information is incorrect or outdated, you will not receive a Quarterly Newsletter.
Email: We occasionally need to contact Club Members when a last-minute change occurs. The easiest way to do that quickly is through email. If your email address is not listed on the membership roster and you would like to be notified of hike changes and updates by email, send your email address to the Club Records Manager
Wednesday & Saturday Hikers: We have had cases where hikers have arrived at the original meeting locations and missed hikes because of changes in arrangements. If you intend to go on a Wednesday or Saturday hike, call the hike leader no later than the night before the scheduled day. Be sure to provide you name and phone number. In the event the weather conditions or other circumstances cause the cancellation of a hike or an adjustment in the starting place or time, you can be notified.
To volunteer to lead a hike: Contact the appropriate Hike Coordinator. The club can continue to offer hikes only if people step up to lead. The hike coordinators send quarterly hike lists to the Newsletter Editor and the President.
Club Window Stickers and Patches: The stickers (which attach to the inside of a window and are easily removed) identify you as a Charger/Recharger. They are available from the Club President for $3 apiece. Club Patches (which can be sown on backpacks, waist packs, etc) are available from various club members for $3 apiece.
